SW 2005 SP5 Exploded View problem

(OP)
Hi all,

We are haveing some trouble exploding an assembly in SW 2007.  The assembly consists of a mix of imported surfaces and solid parts.  We have no problem exploding the solid parts,  the problem lies in trying to explode the imported surfaces.  They just do not want to move.  We have opened the assembly on 2 different computers and had the same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Regards

Mike

RE: SW 2005 SP5 Exploded View problem

Are you using 2005 or 2007? Your title and message conflict.  I have never attempted to explode a surface model but I do have a question.  Are the surface contained in their own respective parts?  If all the surfaces are within a single part, it makes sense that you will not be able to move them around relative to each other with the explode function.  That would be like exploding different solid bodies from a single solidpart.  I don't think that is possible.

Shaggy,
TO answer your question;  yes.  All of the inported surfaces are contained within their own individual parts. We did manage to fix the issue by turning off the auto space function.  It looks like the auto space funtion was attempting to do what you described above.

Thanks
