no flat face in imported step or igs file

no flat face in imported step or igs file

no flat face in imported step or igs file

(OP)
Hi all, good day!!!

I am suffering from not being able to get flat face in imported igs or step files.

Original UG file contains flat faces. after importing I cann't use them for assembly because they are not considered flat faces any more. Also I cann't create sketch on the surface. If I measuer one of them, CATIA shows surface symbol instead of face.

I have tried to modify igs settings, it didn't work.

Anyone can tell me how to solve the problem?

RE: no flat face in imported step or igs file

I would look at the sending system as the receiving system can only translate the entity types available in the file.  Go to the export options/advanced tab.  Toggle the 2 options for surfaces, write test files.  Do you know for sure the surface data in UG is planar?

We typically use step to transfer files from UG - Catia.

Regards,
Derek

Yes, I changed UG igs settings. It worked. There is an option, in UG, called Japanese Automotive Compliant (JAMA). Tick on this option.  New igs file does give flat face now, but I lose all the cylinder surfaces. So, I can not get flat and cylinder at the same time. So strange. It only happen to some UG model.
