RE: PLANER KNIFE CUTING ANGLE AND BEST STEEL TO DO IT

Hi, Automotive person:  Unfortunately, I know very little about metallurgy, but...I'm not sure why you need to make these knives yourself, but my advice would be, if you can, to simply ask a woodworking cutter tool shop to do you up knives to your thickness and length specifications.  Every urban area has these shops - I get knives, shaper cutters, etc, made all the time to my needs. This should not be a costly thing for you.  If you cannot find anything in the phone book, ask a local (quality) cabinetmaking shop, or foreman of a furniture factory, to tell you where they get their cutters fabricated.  Good luck!
