I am looking for CAD data from Toyota, Ducati, or other OEMs

I am looking for CAD data from Toyota, Ducati, or other OEMs

(OP)
Hello Everyone,

I need to get my hands on CAD data from Toyota, specifically body data for the '08 Landcruiser.  Does anyone have a suggestions who to contact, or how I can effectively go about this?

The company I work for is involved with modifications to these vehicles, yet we have no Toyota contacts or data.

I'm also interested in CAD data from Ducati, Ford, or other OEMs.

Has anyone scanned any of the data I am looking for?

Any help is appreciated...

Thank you to those who replied to my similar posting a few months ago.

Usually that sort of thing is totally proprietary to the manufacturer and guarded by non-disclosure agreements if a supplier is involved. In other words, unobtainable, unless YOU are said supplier.

Except in very unusual circumstances, you'll have to reverse-engineer it.

Check with SEMA, via the Tech Transfer program.

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.

If you are a member of SEMA you will be able to get some data depending on what it is you are looking for.  You will have to fill out a form explaining what you want and why and you need to be very specific.  If it is body type stuff or bolt on stuff that fits under the hood, they hold on-site meetings (the manufacturers) where you can meet and measure for the newer vehicles that are coming out.  This assures that there will be new performance products available whenever they introduce a new model year.  If you are looking for something like cylinder head data the best you can expect is either IGES or Parametric data files.  There is absolutely no way you will be able to get native cad data from them.

UserXX,

If you only need digital definition of some limited areas (ie. a front fender or hood panel), you can hire a contract design house to scan the area (using something like a white light scanner)and produce a proper class A surface lofted from the scanned point cloud data.  They can do a fender or hood in a week or so.  An OEM like Toyota will not provide you this digital data.  Here's some references:

I would recommend hiring an expert to do the surfacing, since producing a quality class A body surface is extremely difficult.

Good luck,
Terry

UserXX,

Were you able to get the information you were looking to get or are you not interested anymore?  I notice that several have posted ideas here and there have been no replies from you.
