Compressed air consumption in flotation unit
Compressed air consumption in flotation unit
(OP)
Hello,
Does anybody know the rule of thumb for compressed air consumption in air flotation process. For example per cum of contaminated water inlet. I need to estimate compressor size for oily water treatment system at crude oil terminal.
Thanks very much

RE: Compressed air consumption in flotation unit
For air drum pressures of 35 to 55 psig, about 0.5 SCF per 100 gallons of total flow (i.e., fresh feed + any recycle).
SCF = standard cubic feet of air at atmospheric pressure and 60 deg Fahrenheit = 0.0268 cubic metres of air at atmospheric pressure and 0 deg Celsius.
35 to 55 psig = an absolute pressure of 343 to 481 kPa
100 gallons = 378.5 litres
