TEXT EDITING DIMENSIONS IN AUTOCADlite 2009

TEXT EDITING DIMENSIONS IN AUTOCADlite 2009

(OP)
In all the previous versions I worked in I could add text to a dimension and not effect the dimension. The dimension value would appear as <> in the text editor. For example I could put something like: "<> ref". V2009 doesn't allow me to do that.(Perhaps because it is associtive dimension capable, but when I worked in 2007 with associative dimensions I believe I could add the text.) When I click on a dimension to text edit it simply tells me in is not an MTEXT object. How do I add symblols and text to a dimension in this version?
