Why reducers in the by-passes systems

Why reducers in the by-passes systems

Why reducers in the by-passes systems

(OP)
As I wrote in the subject I would like to know what's the function of reducers in a by-pass, I attach a little picture to clarify things, I hope you will answer me, many thanks.

RE: Why reducers in the by-passes systems

So you don't have to buy a big 6" control valve and run it 20% open (with poor control characteristics) when you could otherwise have a properly sized 4", pay less money and run it between 30% - 80% (at a good range for change in pressure or flow vs a reasonable change of position).

This forum is marvellous, I had my answer in 7 minutes!!!
Thank you BigInch, I thought there was some fluidodynamical reason

RE: Why reducers in the by-passes systems

Ferex, You're very welcome.

There is!  Did you just focus on the cost part of it? smile

Yes it's a technical reason strictly linked to economical reasons. I meant this... Bye and thanks again

RE: Why reducers in the by-passes systems

Ferex,

Don't you think that BI deserves a "Thanks BigInch" purple star for his quick and insightful reply?

Ferex, the by-pass is the part with the 4" valve,
not the control valve + reducers.

Greetings

RE: Why reducers in the by-passes systems

I took it as the whole assembly being a bypass for an attached piece of equipment and the 4" block valve being a bypass for the control valve.  No matter.  Still the same.

Whatever, your reply was excellent as always.
