Dairy Process Wastewater Treatment, Odor Control
Dairy Process Wastewater Treatment, Odor Control
(OP)
I am looking for a [b]cost effective[b] way to control odors from an open, 150,000 gallon, negligibly agitated equalization tank. The facility makes a wide variety of dairy and cheese products, and discharges 0.5 MGD (Million Gal/day). Thanks in advance for your help.

What's off-gassing from this and do you have any EPA or regulatory requirements you have to meet? Knowing this will help determine the solution.

1. Aerate the EQ. There are lots of products out there for this, and if you're interested I can send you several different contacts.
2. Cover the EQ, and treat the offgas with an odor scrubber.
If the influent is pretty stinky, you won't completely eliminate odors if you aerate. The odors are coming from anaerobic biological activity producing methane and hydrogen sulfide.
Where does the water go after it leaves the EQ?
