RE: Thickened Slab Design

Question is not clear but I think you are trying to design a monolithic footing which carries a wall flush on outside. If this is the case Analyze one foot strip of the monoslab taking into account of balancing interior slab as you would analyze a footing for eccentric load which becomes axial load plus moment. It becomes trial and error design. It would be useful to write little mathcad or lotus/excel program.

RE: Thickened Slab Design

In Great Britain the NHBC publish design guidelines for raft ( mat ) foundations. They can be found at www.nhbc.co.uk

RE: Thickened Slab Design

Try "Designing Floor Slabs on Grade" by Boyd C Ringo and Robert B Anderson, published by The Aberdeen Group,Addison, IL. They have a website.

RE: Thickened Slab Design

To mikethebike, i went to the nhbc site, but couldn't find any design guidelines.

RE: Thickened Slab Design

Chico,

Have you received the information that you needed?  If so, I am designing a thickened slab for a pre-engineered building and could use some guidance.
