Welding Electrode

Welding Electrode

Welding Electrode

(OP)
Hi,

I need to know suitable electrode in order to weld Carbon steel pipe (ASTM A106 Gr B) to Forged Alloy Steel Valve body (ASTM A182 F22) by SMAW process. Is Preheating required? Any PWHT recommended for this process?

Where would I get information on elctrodes for welding dissimilar metals?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Welding Electrode

Low hydrogen electrodes; eg, E7015, E7016, E7018, E90XX-
B3, E80XX-B2 are all commonly used. These electrodes should not be used for the root pass for single side, full penetration groove welds made without backing.

Thank you Stanweld for your response. Is any Preheating & PWHT process recommended for these electrodes? Thanks in advance.

RE: Welding Electrode

pingmi;
The requirements for preheat and post weld heat treatment are normally specified by the design code or construction code for the item being fabricated.

The preheat and post weld heat treatment requirements are normally controlled by the base materials and corresponding thickness of the base materials being joined.
