SE ST - Aligning holes
SE ST - Aligning holes
(OP)
I am trying to align holes in Solid Edge ST in a fast way - using up to V20 you would use the vertical/horizontal align tool to align them - but since the holes in ST are not sketch driven, that tool is not longer an option.
The solutions given to me by our SE supplier have been less than practical - either we use an array which is not always possible or align EVERY hole, one by one through the rules.
Until I can find a way to do it quickly I stick to the Traditionnal environment which is a waste - I would have been better staying with V20.
thank you,

RE: SE ST - Aligning holes
Hole alignment is bad. Also the editablity of the the hole type stinks. I wanted to change a simple hole into a counterbore hole. I was out of luck.
With the limitations of ST, the need of retraining, and the fact that many times I just can't predict the drag results makes me think that ST is not the future, and not what I want Solid Edge to be spending my money on.

RE: SE ST - Aligning holes
align holes by constraint is planned for ST2. To align
holes either vert. or horiz. you can do it by dimensioning:
- place the holes unaligned
- dimensioning the offset set the dimension to fix and 0
now they will stay put.
To make a simple hole created by the hole feature a counterbore
one:
- select the hole so that the hole dimension is shown
- click on the dimension
- in the QuickBar click on 'Hole Options' (upper row and
rigtmost button)
- change the settings to counterbore
- accept with OK
OTH: I agree the ST mode is unusable for serious production
at the present state
