Using CATIA V5, I would like to be able to compare the resultant stresses that would be present in two alternative part designs.  The parts do not have uniform cross sections along any axis.  Is is possible to find the "average" moments of inertia (in units^4) for a .CATPART with respect to the global XYZ?  Is there a way to use the "Measure Inertia" tool to obtain this information?  Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever get any responses to this request?  I have been working with this lately in V5R18 to try to get the moment of inertia at a specified point.  2D Inertia properties appear to only generate the results at the centroid.  If you use 3D properties of a face, you can pick the Inertia/O tab to get properties at the origin of the model.  I haven't quite figured out how to convert the results from gxmm2 to mm4 but I think it has something to do with the surfacic mass.
