Insert Image

RE: How to attach picture in Autocad?

what you are seeing is the file path of the original image. AutoCAD does not embed the image in the dwg file when inserted. this is what you can do:
1. ask the architect to send you the image file; then in autocad, go to xref, under the image name, at the bottom, click on FOUND AT, then browse to the image and add it.
2. if its a non-georeferenced image, then INSERT>RASTER IMAGE REFERENCE,then go find your image.
3. if its a georeferenced image, then go MAP>IMAGE>INSERT; in this case, make sure the world file has the same filename and resides in the same folder (e.g. if you image is test.jpg, then the world file will be test.jgw, if its test.tif, then world file will be test.tfw, if its test.sid, then world file is test.sdw)
hope this helps!

RE: How to attach picture in Autocad?

You could put the image file in the same folder as the drawing file. If Autocad can not find a file in it's referenced location it will by default check the current drawing's file folder location.

RE: How to attach picture in Autocad?

Is the picture file "Picture" or is it another drawing ?

Don't worry so much about reloading the image right now.

If a "Picture" meaning a bitmap image like JPG, TIF, BMP, or GIF (the most common ones) get the architect to send it to you. Put it in the SAME directory as your drawing, even on the network. Reload your drawing. The picture will come right in. Resume work. You can deal with the directory path issue later as you have time, but it's not practical to try to recreate the directory structure your architect was using. Just drop it into the directory of the parent drawing and reload the drawing.

It really is that simple. Actually it's that simple with the X-Ref drawing as well...

Once you have things under control, you can decide where YOU want _pictures_ stored on your network, and even drawings you've downloaded to your computer for work will reference THAT location on the network. That's where the method above for reloading the picture comes in.

Good luck !

RE: How to attach picture in Autocad?

I am having the same issue with AC2009... I want to iclude our company logo in the title block.. There must be some way to have it stay with the drawing no mater where it is sent to.... without asking the customer / client to jump through several hoops just so our drawing shows our logo

RE: How to attach picture in Autocad?

ask the architect to use "etransmit" to zip the files and send them to you. this will include all the files necessary including xrefs, images, fonts, etc.

Ralph2-
If you want logo "embedded" then you'll need to draw it in CAD, or you could insert an image as an OLE object. See Help under OLE, embed OLE object.
