HISTORIC MEMBER SHAPES

HISTORIC MEMBER SHAPES

HISTORIC MEMBER SHAPES

(OP)
I am currently working on a 80 plus year old powerhouse building for the addition of new equipment.  There are many historic shapes that are not loaded with RISA out of the box. I realized I can add shapes individually with the Risa input.  But are there any third party applications or freebies from RISA that already have a lot of these historic shapes already loaded?

RE: HISTORIC MEMBER SHAPES

I had this problem when I was modeling a building with A7 steel. I contacted Risa and they sent me a database of the shapes I needed. Attached is the file they sent me, this might be what you need, if it isn't then contact Risa. The directions to load it into Risa are below, you kind of have to trick it.......

Here is a historic database that was created with the help of one of our customers.  This database has not been backchecked, so we can not guarantee that it is accurate.  Thus, I would verify the properties of the sections you are using.  But this should work.

Now, you will also have to overwrite one of the steel databases that are already in your C:/RISA folder.  One that we usually recommend is the Trade Arbed shapes database because it is very rarely used (I'm not sure where it's used ever).  That database is named arbed32.fil.  Thus, if you delete that file and rename the attached file to arbed32.fil and place it in the C:/RISA folder, you can open the "Trade Arbed" shapes database and it will have the shapes from this file located there.
