Clean uninstall?

Clean uninstall?

Clean uninstall?

(OP)
Are there any instructions for doing a clean uninstall of Inventor 9?  I.e. after uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs which registry entries and directories can/should be deleted?  Thanks!

Chris Gervais

RE: Clean uninstall?

I just uninstall, then run something like ccleaner which will delete most of the unused registry entries.

RE: Clean uninstall?

Our IT will not let us run 3rd party programs like ccleaner.
Is a clean reinstall really required with Inventor?

IMO a clean un/reinstall is not necessary.

Our IT department will not let us install unapproved 3rd party programs.

RE: Clean uninstall?

A clean uninstall should not be necessary as different versions can co-exist on the same workstation.  I believe that it is just a preferred methon for some users.  I would only go through the cleaning process if i was having problems getting Inventor to install or was experiencing severe crashing or performance problems on the new installation.

RE: Clean uninstall?

To clean with uninstalling is just a safe bet for not getting unknown error msgs with left behind registry entries.
And Bradley u can give ur IT depart the program fr review. and then install if they allow.

I had both r2008 and r2009 running fine on a machine for several months.  Then I began having trouble.  I unistalled r2008 and still experieced trouble with r2009.  It was an all day effort to get a clean uninstall of r2009 and reinstall.  (I came very close to just doing a reformat.)  There is a page somewhere on the Autodesk site on how to get a clean uninstall including instructions on a couple of registry keys. (search Google)

My r2009 reinstall is now running fine again.
