Converting AutoCAD Xref Files to MDT6

Converting AutoCAD Xref Files to MDT6

Converting AutoCAD Xref Files to MDT6

(OP)
I am in Tool & Die Design, and for one particular Customer have several complete Stamping Die Assemblies from Xref files of the individual components.
Problem - how to convert these to a true Mechanical Desktop 6 file ?
From within MDT, the AMNEW>Convert>External gives me a Browser listing with the origonal component file names, and any one can be opened for Edit.
But this is still essentially Xref.

Anyone know the correct method?
