arithmatic operations with autocad fields

arithmatic operations with autocad fields

i have two mtexts, each has a field. i want to have a third mtext which would be field 1+ field 2. is that possible? i looked around and found some postings about "arithmetic functions in autocad fields" where they say FIELD>ALL>EXPRESSION to do it. i cannot seem to find 'EXPRESSION' in the ALL category. i am running 2009. am i missing something?

RE: arithmatic operations with autocad fields

Insert Field Formula Sum ??

RE: arithmatic operations with autocad fields

true, but looks like that only works for tables. my labels are scattered around mtexts. any other ideas?

RE: arithmatic operations with autocad fields

A diesel expression may work - I'll look into that but I'm skeptical.

RE: arithmatic operations with autocad fields

What do you mean with mtexts having fields?

RE: arithmatic operations with autocad fields

(OP)
a mtext with text like "Area = ****" where **** is an inserted field as INSERT FIELD>OBJECT>AREA. you can get it from the right click menu when you are in the text editor. hope that explains your question chicopee
