Need standard alphabets for highway signs for AutoCAD LT

Need standard alphabets for highway signs for AutoCAD LT

Does anyone know a website where I can get an electronic version of the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) "Standard Alphabets for Traffic Control Devices". I want to copy the standard alphabet into an AutoCAD LT drawing so I don't have to draw the letters. I have already downloaded the FHWA's standard in .pdf format. Maybe someone knows a way to transfer the .pdf information into a .dwg AutoCAD LT drawing? Please advise.

RE: Need standard alphabets for highway signs for AutoCAD LT

The official name for the font most commonly used on US road signs and highway marker shields is FHWA Series D Modified. Series D refers to one of the variations of font used on signs - the differences mainly being the thickness and width of the characters. Modified refers again to the thickness and width of the characters.

Highway Gothic is a commercially available software font which closely resembles the official font.

Blue Highway is a shareware/freeware TrueType font which closely resembles the official font. It can be downloaded from its creator's Larabie Fonts web site http://www.larabiefonts.com/ . It includes orthogonal and diagonal arrows as symbol characters. Many other unrelated fonts are also featured on this site. External link checked Dec-99.

The font used on road signs in National Parks in the USA closely resembles Clarendon. However, many of the signs in the parks are wooden and appear to be hand crafted.
