In a turbomachinery , for gland seal condensers do we need to provide vapour and liquid space in the exhanger shell?

With steam and air temperature of 245 deg C and cooling water temperature of 32 deg C , is it advisable to go in for fixed tube sheet design?

RE: Gland seal condensers

Depends on where you are draining the liquid to and if you are wanting to sub cool it or not.  If not, then all you need to provide for is the liquid to be able to reach the drain as quickly and easily as possible.  If you are trying to sub cool it then you have to provide for the level necessary to get to the degree of subcooling that you want to do.

The gland seal condenders that I have had experience with have all had fixed tubesheets.
