Graphics not showing in Assemblies

Graphics not showing in Assemblies

(OP)
I am having a problem with Solidworks 2007. When I open an assembly there is no graphic display. The browser shows all the parts and if I open a sub-assemblies it will show the graphics but the main assembly will just not show. If I highlight the sub-assemblies in the browser they will show a wireframe box of the highlighted assemblies position in the main assembly but that is it. I have a Dell precision 4300 and have checked to see if the graphics card is correct for this version of Solidworks and it says it should be working fine. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated. Attached is a screen shot of said assembly with several sup-assemblies highlighted.

RE: Graphics not showing in Assemblies

I had exactly this problem when I first installed SW2007 x64 Bit. I WAS using the certified card for my ATI FireGL card, but it would still do this when I had several documents open, sometimes switching between models using the Windows method from the menu bar, would only swap the Tree Pane and title bar for the intended model, but the main view pane would stay showing the original one, then I'd get the phantom lines as moved to pointer over the tree. Minimising and then restoring the SW window would leave a blank viewpane showing the desktop, often followed by a sudden SW exit!

I loaded the latest untested driver from the manufacturer's site and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Try checking the "Use Software OpenGL" under "Tools> Options> System Options> Performance"? You must do this BEFORE you open any files or it will probablly be greyed out. If it's stable and doesn't show the problem with this option on, then it's almost certainly a Video Card driver problem.

roddster50,

Are you using an ATI or nVidia card?

Precision 4300 ... is that a workstation or laptop?

cheers
