Auto Explode?

Auto Explode?

Auto Explode?

Not that I'm complaining (because it never worked the way I wanted it to), but didn't there used to be an auto-explode command in assemblies?  I'm not seeing it anymore in 09.

RE: Auto Explode?

Eltron,

I would accept autoexplode in SolidWorks if and only if there was a built-in retaliation routing that delivered an electrical jolt to the designer every time they used the command, and every time somebody was unable to understand the expoded drawing.

I have seen so many exploded views that are practically useless for assembly.  Lazy, uncaring drafters do enough damage with the manual explode.  Drawings are a communications resource.  Automatic explode is like blindfolding yourself and pounding randomly on the keyboard.

I'd vote for that.  I'm just bummed because I use to get a laugh out of how the software decided to blow things up.  Looks like they got enough complaints that it went away.

RE: Auto Explode?

It has definately been phased out.  It was pretty dang useless.  However, I would've like to see some sort of intelligent auto-explode, perhaps with an assembly order property and a general direction (axis) to explode upon for cylindrial assemblies.
