"Flange Ring" in the context of UG-14

"Flange Ring" in the context of UG-14

(OP)
Could anyone please help me understand the exact interpretation of the term "flange ring" in the context of UG-14. Specifically, how different is it from a flange/hubbed flange/any other flange?
Does UG-14 imply that we can only make the "ring portion" of a hubbed flange from the materials listed under subsection C?
Please advise!
Thanks in advance.

RE: "Flange Ring" in the context of UG-14

Parsed from an ASME Guidebook...............

Bolted connections used on pressure vessels may consist of a flat plate or so-called blind flange, a loose-type flange, or an integral type flange. An early method to analyze bolted flange connections was developed by Taylor Forge. These methods were further developed by the ASME Code Committee for use in Appendix 2 of VIII-l.

Typical of the loose-type flanges are the ring flange, which usually is made from a flat plate formed into a ring, and the slip-on or lap-joint flange. Either of these may have a hub, but the weld size and strength are not great enough to have the flange and vessel or pipe act together.
Integral-type flanges usually contain a tapered hub and flange ring which may be integrally formed or the hub and neck are welded together and act integrally so that each carries part of the loadings. Rules for special flanges with different geometry and/or loading are given in Appendix 2 of VIII-I
