Pump Material Selection for Casing

Pump Material Selection for Casing

Pump Material Selection for Casing

(OP)
Hi, i'm Xeros

In accordance with API610, CI or CS could be used for the casing material.

I have question between CI and CS.

Sometimes, CI is used for casing material, sometimes CS.

Could i know the detailed reason why sometimes, CI is selected or sometimes CS?

Sorry,
Generally fire water pump or liquid sulfur service

CI for fire service
cs (cast steel) for liquid sulphur.

Thank you for your help.

AND MORE,
I want to know the reason CI for Fire Service and CS for Liquid Sulfur.

Is the reason that CS is more corrosion resistant than CI?
Or mechanical properties?

RE: Pump Material Selection for Casing

CI is sufficient for the fire service whereas CS in a better choice as it's much safer for pumping hot liquid sulphur - not subject to failure from thermal shock which CI is.
