I am working on a oil & gas project in west coast of Canada. It is a 69 kV cable being fed from a GIS substation and powering a 12 MVA transformer with bushings at the bottom in a cable box. So no exposed bushings and no lihgtning arresters.
Due to Client request, my back is against the wall. The GIS is located 1 kM away from the transformer and they dont want any disconnect switch before the cable terminates on the primary of transformer.
Everything is privately owned by the client. My concern is there will be no visible source of disconnet for some body who is working on transformer.
I would appreciate your comment, if this kind of design has been done before and proper procedures for maintenance can be used to get away with this arrangement.

Hi sobeys,
Do the contact of the isolating switch in the GIS are visible?
If yes, it's correct. With proper procedure, maintenace guys have to drive 1km to the GIS, open the switch, confirm that the contact are well open and then lock it.
If no, you need to install another switch with visible point of disconnect since it's in Canada and CSA require this.

I agree with your comments. Is there is a possibility if you could advise me any literature link that talks about a procedure required for this kind of arrangement.
