Pulverized fuel systems automatic isolation

(OP)
I work in a pulverized coal fired power plant. We have  pulverizers that have an automatic swing valve burner line isolation system in place that was part of OEM equipment. We would like to upgrade the system from an existing swing valve design to a knife gate design. Is it permissible (by NFPA code) to remove the OEM equipment to install another automatic burner line isolation system?

For clarification, there are manual isolation dampers on each burner line, one appx 10 ft upstream of the burner, and one appx 10ft downstream of the automatic swing valves.
