output format of an encoder

output format of an encoder

(OP)
Hello
I am planned make an application using an optical linear encoder (Heidenhain).

Encoder (3 x sine) --->  Interpolation (3 x TTL )---->  Counter board  --->  Position

I want to test the application in simulation before going to real. For this I want to generate the final position signal in simulation (Matlab).

Could somebody please explain how this signal looks like? (So that I could generate its realistic approximation in simulation)

Thanks in Advance
Simasa

RE: output format of an encoder

Making a Simulink model of an incremental encoder is not to difficult but a linear absolute can be much more difficult depending on the output you choose or what is available.
If you provide a link or complete description of the output it would be helpful.
