What is the minimum and maximum hight from ceiling to instal a beam type smoke detector?
And what is the maximum distance between the beam detector transmiter and receiver?
Please mention the NFPA reference.

hello,

project beam type detector should be installed in a stable surfaces to prevent fals or erratic movment as stated in NFPA 72 2-3.6.3, thats a good start to what you are looking for.

On smooth ceilings, a spacing of not more than 60 ft (18.3 m) between projected beams and not more than one-half that spacing between a projected beam and a sidewall (wall parallel to the beam travel) should be used as a guide, refer to NFPA 72, Appendix (A),  A-2-3.4.5.2.

NFPA 72 (2002) See annex A Figure A.5.7.3.4 then refer to  NFPA 72 (2002 - most recent code - check for which code your local AHJ has adopted) 5.7.3.4 on page 39. -- Hope this helps.
