pig receiver without a tray will block the drain: device?

pig receiver without a tray will block the drain: device?

(OP)
Hi, I'm currently working on receiver traps for an oil pipeline.  Turns out that the traps were designed to be eccentric without trays.  That means that there is a possiblity that when a pig comes into the trap, the drainage hole will be blocked by the pig.  It's too late to change the trap design, but I think this may be solved by inserting a 'spacer' device to prevent the pig from traveling all the way to the door.  My question is, has this problem been encountered/solved before, and how?  And also if the solution is indeed a spacing or mandrel device, is it available to be purchased?
Thanks!
