Advice on which Pressure Vessel Book to choose
Advice on which Pressure Vessel Book to choose
(OP)
I recently became head of department for mechanical engineering, and we are branching out into designing and manufacturing of pressure vessels.
I am currently the only person with some PV experience, and I want to purchase some books for the other engineers to use. Please give your recommendations on the following books, and rank them if you could:
1. Practical Guide to Pressure Vessel Manufacturing - Sunil Pullarcot.
2. Pressure Vessel Design - Donatello Annaratone
3. Pressure Vessel Design Manual, Third Edition - Dennis R. Moss
4. Pressure Vessel Handbook, 14th Edition - Eugene Megyesy
5. Pressure Vessels: Design and Practice - Somnath Chattopadhyay
6. Guidebook for the Design of ASME, Section VIII: Pressure Vessels, Third Edition - James R. Farr
7. Pressure Vessel Design: The Direct Route - Josef L. Zeman
Feel free to recommend any other books that you may feel is better than those listed here.

I would add the classic John Harvey book on Pressure Vessel Theory to your list.

Also, I believe that you should consider the expansion of the curricula to the "near pressure vessels" known as low pressure tanks (API-650,620)and TEMA heat exchangers.
There are also many ASME journals and research articles about pressure vessel theory and design.
Please tell us about the curricula that you envision.
