UNDERGROUND PIPE

UNDERGROUND PIPE

UNDERGROUND PIPE

(OP)
Hello folks,

I need to analyze a 14" water pipe buried under about 4' of compacted soil.  The pipe needs to withstand E-80 loading and I would like some help on determining the stress distribution on the outside shell of the pipe because I know that it isn't uniform at all.  Any good STAAD solutions?  Any help is much appreciated.

RE: UNDERGROUND PIPE

There is a FEA program developed for 2-D analysis of buried structures called CANDE-2007.  It was recently updated and it is free.  It has reasonable material models built in and for a simple trench design, is very simple to run with a canned mesh where you just enter dimensions.  See the following link.
