We have an attribute on our drawings which calculates weight <W@?MASS> this is a live attribute, so if the part changes, the weight updates. The problem is, that if we try and use the advanced weight management tool, the mass we assert for example will be displayed correctly in the weight column of the ANT however, the mass attribute on the drawing will not reflect the asserted value.

Consider a gas spring, a bought in item that we use on cab doors etc. What we like to do is create a simplified single solid sketch driven CAD model including a deformable feature to allow us to show the gas spring in the fully extended and fully closed position. However, the mass of the model will not be the same as the actual component, so I would like to be able to manually assign  a mass to the CAD  model which will then be used as the primary value in the drawing of the part and also when the part is added to an assembly, the <W@?MASS> attribute in assembly drawing uses the asserted value from the gas spring and not the mass oft he CAD model.

Any ideas please?

At least with respect to using the @MASS assignment in the Parts List, it appears that in NX 6 the system will properly display the 'mass' of the part as expected by the user.  That is, if there has not been an asserted value assigned to the part/component, it will show the calculated value, but if the user has 'asserted' a value, this will be used instead.  So in NX 6, whether you look at the weight column in the ANT, check the value on the 'Weight' tab under Properties or add a Weight column to a Parts List, they are all reporting the same values.
