How do i change the image on the splash screen when starting solidworks?

RE: Change splash screen image

Switch to a different version.  It will come with different splash screens.  Other than that, you can't.

RE: Change splash screen image

I'm sure if you wanted to start digging around in the code you could find it buried somewhere, but altering the software is verboten by the license agreement.

RE: Change splash screen image

This question has been asked several times over the last couple of years, but I've never really understood why this would be wanted.

On a fast system the splash screen lasts for only a few seconds. It is there to distract from the time it takes SW to load. My goal would be to not see it at all and have SW load instantly ... or even quicker. wink

cheers

RE: Change splash screen image

Maybe people want a different kind of distraction, Limey.  Perhaps Megan Fox as Wonder Woman would be better than a concept vehicle...

RE: Change splash screen image

I once used "resource hacker" to change the splash screen on Photoshop.  I had to edit a .dll in the Photoshop directory and replace an image.  Maybe it would be the same process for SolidWorks?  The site for the program is, http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/.  I'm sure it could be done, but my experience is that it's not worth the effort.

RE: Change splash screen image

Eltron,

Having SW crash on its own is bad enough. Do you want the users to be deliberately crashing it just to see the splash screen?

cheers

RE: Change splash screen image

I'll wait for CBL to configure a system that loads SW "instantly ... or even quicker". CBL, please post your system specs and a link to the order form where I can get one! Lets see Anna top that!! Sorry Anna, my i7 envy is showing again...

RE: Change splash screen image

Harold,

You'll have to wait for the Delorean version of the i7. It's supposed to have a built-in time-shift ummm thingy. But they are having some problems making the CPU chips from Stainless Steel, and in miniaturizing a power supply which can handle a lightning bolt.

I'll let you know when they are getting close to production, but start saving now coz it won't be cheap.

cheers

No need to email since I have a mind-reading enabling hat just like Dr. Brown.

RE: Change splash screen image

I am not sure about SW but some software packages have an .INI file that can be edited with a text editor to define preferences, splash screens, etc. Be sure save a copy of the original .INI file as a text file just in case, e.g. xxxxxx.original.ini.txt. Saving it as a TXT file prevents it from being picked up as an .INI file by the software. Regards.
