Background color in Sketcher, NX6

Background color in Sketcher, NX6

NX6.0.1 MP1

I like the ability in NX6 to be able to quickly change the background color (defaults are light, dark, or blended light or dark).  However, I've found that if I set the background to be dark while in Modeling, then create and edit a Sketch, the background turns back to a light color, and the background selector drop-down menu is greyed-out.

What's the recommended way to change screen background color while in Sketcher, in NX6?

RE: Background color in Sketcher, NX6

Preferences -> Color Palette.  Under the area of the dialog that is labeled 'Selected Color' there should be an icon that says 'Background Color' when you hover your mouse over it.  Click it and pick your color for the Sketch Background from the dialog that pops up.

If you have a specific color that you prefer, I'm almost positive that you can specify this in your customer defaults.

As far as I have experienced with NX6, this is how ALL background colors are changed IN THE NX SESSION (aka on the fly), otherwise set it in your customer defaults.

When describing specific mouse gestures or tasks, it might help to specifically outline what commands/icons you used like I did at the beginning with Preferences -> Color Palette....I have NO CLUE what drop-down you're referring to above.  I don't mean to sound like I'm insulting you, just trying to offer suggestions to make your questions clearer or easier to understand.

Hope this helps out.

Tim, thanks for the suggestions.  That works to set the sketch color.

Outside of sketcher, though, there's a very convenient way to change background color "on the fly", using the drop-down menu I mentioned.  To see what I'm talking about, check out the attached picture.

Inside of Sketcher, this drop down is unavailable; greyed-out. It'd be nice to have this available within Sketcher.

RE: Background color in Sketcher, NX6

The intention was to provide a scheme where a user could have a Modeling background and a different Sketching background.  I use a very light Modeling background because this shows off shaded images better (I tend toward dark modeling colors like grays) but I like a very dark Sketcher background since I'm dealing with curves with lighter and brighter colors.  What you do is set up two backgrounds, one for shaded view and a 'Plain' one for Wireframe.  It's this 'Plain' view that you set the Sketcher to switch to when you enter the sketch task.

BTW, those 'Background' Icons are only available when running Shape Studio.  Not only are they NOT available in the Sketch Task, they're not available in regular Modeling either.

That screenshot was taken while only running in the Gateway application.  They're also available in regular Modeling.

Potrero,

That icon has also disappeared for me. I think it was after installing the first MR. It was very useful,
