Transfer Theory help with project

Transfer Theory help with project

(OP)
Hey everyone, got a project at work to do involving the design of a exhaust muffler.
ive been scouring the internet and books for help with this and come across a few formulas (this is just simplified theory to get a space claim for muffler size against decibel loss. the intricate design will be coming later on).

Now all the formulas involve transfer theory and i touched upon this in my first year of uni but completely forgotten it after 5-6 years. So im in dire need of help.

if this is possibke that i could also formulate this into excel so i could just add the variables in and have it calc the results/graphs would be perfect but sadly all i know in excel is basic fomula stuff and this will be going through alot of revisions to get the cross sectional area optimal.

so im throwing it out to you guys. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

L is the pipe length.
values for the Pipe lengths pressure and volumetric velocity arent really required at all. If anyone could help doing a worked example with some simplified values to show how i can work this properly.
Also assume that the speed of sound is standard 340m/s and not too sure what the angular velocity is

also any tips on websites or books that explain and show examples of transfer theory would be brilliant too and matrices in general

Many thanks

I think you will get a better response if you move this post to one of the Automotive forums, probably "Engine and fuel engineering"

If this is for a commercial product then simple sizing formulae like that won't help much. I strongly suggets that you get advice from someone who has designed one before for your type of product.
