Power Transformer - Short circuit withstand calculation

Power Transformer - Short circuit withstand calculation

Power Transformer - Short circuit withstand calculation

(OP)
Large transformers pose difficulty in organising the Short circuit / Dynamic withstand test per IEC 60076-5, from the point of view of Power Source availability and the logistics in moving the transformer to the test house.
Such times, the consultants are asked to review and approve the S/C withstand calculation done by the vendor for adequacy.

There is no procedure / sample calculation available in IEC. Any suggestions!!

Thanks in anticipation.

RE: Power Transformer - Short circuit withstand calculation

Look at the Ed3.0(2006-02) of IEC 60076-5.Annexure A gives the calculations.

Thanks for response, prc.

I have already gone through the IEC 60076-5 (2006).
It doesn't give the calculation, only guidelines to review the vendor design.

RE: Power Transformer - Short circuit withstand calculation

Raghun, I thought from your mail that is what you exactly wanted-to review and approve the calculations given by vendor. You can ask vendor to use calculation as per IEC and dynamic force calculations as per his validated soft ware which people will not share with you.
