Fluorine Contamination of Crude Oil

(OP)
Hello all,

Just curious to know if the presence of fluorine containing molecules in crude oil (as a contaminent) pose the same risk to refining operations as chlorides.

Thanks!

RE: Fluorine Contamination of Crude Oil

Thanks for your reply.

If possible, can you let me know what risk flourine poses?

Thanks again!

RE: Fluorine Contamination of Crude Oil

Depends on your processes, concentrations and conditions. It can be anywhere from emissions to affecting catalysts.
Too broad to asses a particular potential impact without knowing the details.
Fluorine can affect carbon steel, PVC, silicone, PTFE.. etc...
All depends how you are getting it, how much, what conditions and what your system looks like
