Error: Failed to launch server application

Error: Failed to launch server application

Error: Failed to launch server application

(OP)
Everybody I know is having this problem with "Failed to launch server application".

We get this random error message when trying to open a existing Design Table in a part or assembly.

I can't seem to isolate what is causing it and my VAR fix is to turn our PDMWorks Enterprise Add-in off and then back on again (within SolidWorks).  We've had pretty good success w/ this fix, but it's not exactly instilling confidence in my users lol.

Does anybody know why we get this error and how to prevent it or have a better fix than what the VAR is suggesting?  It would be much appreciated :)

RE: Error: Failed to launch server application

Usually this is caused by an OLE interaction with Excel and SolidWorks, another windows oddity.  If you see this message, go to your task manager and see if the excel process is running.  If it is then terminate the process.

Give that one a try.

Thanks.
