Hi-Pot Testing

Hi-Pot Testing

Hi-Pot Testing

(OP)
What is the applied voltage test for a Hi-Pot testing on the lightning arrestors, CB´s, Disconect switches, etc. in a 115kV substation.

RE: Hi-Pot Testing

Is this an AC or DC HiPot test?  For air break switches and circuit breakers we did an AC HiPot test to twice the rated line to line voltage.  Check the manuals on the CB.  They should have a HiPot value.

If it is broken, fix it.  If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

RE: Hi-Pot Testing

HVCB is 1.8 times rated.

Is it for DC power Hi-pot tester? 1.8 times 115KV. Thank you

RE: Hi-Pot Testing

Melco001,
that is the AC value. A test report with the CB should state the HP voltage. The manual should also state the DC, but I will get back to you.
