Hydrotesting Valves

Hydrotesting Valves

(OP)
What are the standard procedures used by others for hydrotesting new valves?  For instance, if we were switching from a carbon steel to a stainless steel valve, we typically wouldn't hydrotest the valve and just put it in service.  The problem here is that API 598 has shorter duration times on the high pressure test than B31.3 so the valve as a piping component has not had a pressure test to B31.3.

RE: Hydrotesting Valves

We used to hydrotest all new valves before they went into service for leak tightness.

RE: Hydrotesting Valves

Shorter duration than B31.3...However, higher test pressure.
