Windows 64 bit XP vs Vista

Windows 64 bit XP vs Vista

(OP)
Hi all

I have a question regarding 64 bit computing.

A collegue told me that the 64 bit environment in XP is not "true" 64 bit while Vista is "true" 64 bit. The result was supposed to be that some softwares shouldn't work properly in XP64. The issue was not FEM - software but I'm just curious if anybody has experienced any problems. This since FEM in 64 bit OS can often include adressing lots of memory etc. Also, if there is anything "untrue" about XP64, do you know what what that could be?

Regards

Thomas

RE: Windows 64 bit XP vs Vista

I'm running three different FEA packages on a 64 bit XP box with no troubles, but I'm an end-user more than a electronics wizard.  No idea what the differences could be.

RE: Windows 64 bit XP vs Vista

I'm running XP 64 as well.

I use both Comsol MultiPhysics as well as CF Design.
