Catia Model Import

Catia Model Import

(OP)
Hello All.
I would like to ask if any of you may be able to help out with a newbie problem i am having.
I recieve CATIA MODEL (V4?) from customer that i import into UGNX4, I then export this as IGES to the NC department, they claim model is coming in at 1/25th (metric) scale.
I dont know if UG is importing or exporting incorrectly, or if original CATIA model was sent as scale.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Catia Model Import

hmm, inches-to-mm issue?

RE: Catia Model Import

Maybe try the external translator:

To Get there in WINDOWS:
START>PROGRAMS>UGNX>TRANSLATORS>CATIAV4>IMPORT

Then go to the EDIT pulldown and toggle between inches and millimeters to see if that fixes it.

RE: Catia Model Import

When you import iges to UG check not only the sizes but go into File>Properties under the Displayed part TAB and check the units. What I expect may have occurred is that a CATIA design in inches was imported into a metric file and came in unit for unit and 1:25.4 scale.

In my experience scale errors are normally more likely to occur on the import phase than during the export of data.

Cheers

Hudson
