Shot Peened Inside (Hammer Finish) on 6063-T6 aluminum

Hi,

Our customer has a 6063-T6 aluminum pipe specification for the resin pellet transport asking that all pipe, elbow, etc. shall be shot peened inside (hammer finish).  What are the advantages to do this kind of treatment?  Also, what is the differences between mechanical or chemical to realize this finish?

Regards,

Hcjulien

There is a patented process called ?Flo-Line? for internal finishing of conveyor piping. Our biggest question was it  worth the additional cost over conventional peening like that furnished by companies like Superior.

What's the ID of the pipe?
