rubber to metal - permanent adhesive required?

rubber to metal - permanent adhesive required?

(OP)
Please could someone recommend a rubber to metal adhesive? The rubber molding has split away from the metal, so the stronger the adhesive the better! permanent if possible.

The split can be compressed with the aid of a vice which should help things!

RE: rubber to metal - permanent adhesive required?

Are you cleaning the metal properly, then priming and applying the bonding agent and allowing them to dry properly before trying to bond rubber?

Thanks for your reply to my problem.

I did not manufacture this mounting and I have not attempted to repair the mounting. I am just after a suitable product that will make a permanent repair.

RE: rubber to metal - permanent adhesive required?

This looks like a manufacturing fault to me and is impossible to repair.  I would suggest you contact the manufacturer.

You might try an adhesive such as Rema Tip Top SC2000 cold vulcanizing adhesive. http://www.rema.com/sc2000.htm.

We've used this material in our plant for bonding cured rubber, and it provides a decent bond after 2-3 hours, full bond maybe after 16-24 hours. I haven't used the material myself, but people that do use it think it's pretty good.

Good luck!

Tom, the photograph looks to me like the rubber has torn due to flex fatigue.  if that is the case, there is no point in making a repair and a replacement unit is necessary.
