wire race bearing - continued thread821-197688

wire race bearing - continued thread821-197688

(OP)
I read the thread821-197688: Wire race bearings? and now I try to explain.

The main advantages of wire race bearings are the slim bearing cross section, lightweight and usability in lots of materials.
Thus allows to use e.g. aluminum, brass or similar materials for the enclosing design.
Furthermore with wire race bearings the rotational resistance or torque can be adjusted exactly to your needs.
Nevertheless there are disadvantages like increased efforts with the assembly. You need work accurate while assembling.
By the way, Rotek is in Partnership with Franke GmbH (www.franke-gmbh.com) in Germany, which was founded by Erich Franke, the inventor of wire race bearings.

Are you trying to sell this kind of bearings? You seem to be the guy that knows about them.

There is also some German influence in your writing. Are you affiliated with the manufacturer?

RE: wire race bearing - continued thread821-197688

I thought the technology was developed in Russia and
Franke came along later.  I kind of remember a name
like Radzlovsky or something like that in the early
literature about wire race design.  Rotek is also a
subsidiary of Krupp Steel.  Tank turret bearings,
knitting machines, and the space shuttle arm all use
this technology.  Torque is hard to predict and a lot of
trial assembly is required and shim adjustments are
necessary to change the torque.  There is a threaded
interface technology that achieves the same effect.
Expensive bearings.  Medical Imaging Machines have also
used this technology of late.
