3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

(OP)
I have been given a 3D solid model Catia V5R19 and need to creat my own 2D drawings. The one problem I'm having is getting the GDT and selected part notes into the new drawing. I can copy and paste from the solid to a word doc. But I have not been able to do this to the 2D print.

I have tried the view from 3D but I have not been able to get it right. Any help is better than were I'm at now.

"not been able to get it right." do you mean that it wont come in at all or it is displaying the view wrong in drafting?

What do I do after I click on the view from 3D? It does not seem to give me any options on what to view or how to import the view I need with the GTD.
Pretty much after I have the 2D sheet open and I click on the icon to view from 3D I'm stuck.
 Please forgive my inexperience.

Is it just on my end or does anyone else see "pinkish" background when viewing the video? very different colors than the original recording.

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

No problem with the background color, think that your pinkish color is due to the codec you are using, try the CCCP package.

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

I'm unable to play your video, Mark, on my Windows Media Player. Error message says it's either an unsupport codec, or my company security settings are too high.

That is a big help. Thanks!!!

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

That worked! Nice video (but a little hard to hear)

Roadking: you should check with your customer to get their advice on how to access the data. Different companies do things differently. I think some companies add notes as parameters, while other may use 3D annotations for notes as shown in the video. I'm not sure how you would access BOM info, unless you had access to their PDM system.

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

Hi All,

I am in the same boat as Roadking77.

I just received a part which has the Functional Tolerancing and Annotation(??) incorporated into the model.

I am following the steps from m1mason's excellent video but the view does not remain visible in drafting, that is, I see the preview but when I accept it it disappears. Perhaps there is a setting I need to toggle? I also don't have the FT&A module but I can still see the notes and GD&T.
Any tips?

Thanks,
thixoguy

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

Thixoguy,

Expand the Annotation branch at the bottom of the tree, so that you see all the FT&A views. Then try making your drawing view by selecting one of the 3D annotation views.

I don't think you need the FT&A license to do this.

RE: 3D solid to 2D drawing that shows GDT and part notes

Hi All,

I figured it out. The view when placed in Drafting was placed way out in space. Reframe found it.

Thanks to m1mason for the generous offer.
Thanks to jackk for his usual input
