solid edge 20 cutout question - assembly

solid edge 20 cutout question - assembly

solid edge 20 cutout question - assembly

(OP)
Ok we are trying to figure something out.

We have two parts in an assembly.

With this assembly we actually do more work to it.

1. we drill and tap extra holes
2. we add fasteners and dowel pins
3. we add an o-ring groove on one end.

We have figured out how to do all of the above except #3.

In the part file we can actually do a swept cut out to get the groove we need.  In the assembly file when you go to edit the assembly we can not do the swept cut out.

The tool bar we have in the the weldment features tool bar but we can not pull out the swept cut out.

What are we doing wrong.  I swear it was there in 19.

Thanks for your input.

If you need a picture to help let me know.

Thanks
Richard

RE: solid edge 20 cutout question - assembly

I just looked in V19 and there is no swept cutout - only extruded and revolved.
Post a picture of what is required and we may be able to do it a different way.
Imagine the 'path' profile with the width of the groove and project that as a normal cutout, then round the bottom of the groove.

Can you do the straight cutouts and then do the ends with revolved cutout ?

There you go.

That is the answer we needed.

We had a different work around but that one is easier to keep up with especially since one of our co-workers does not seem to have a brain.
