Condensate?
Condensate?
(OP)
My husband and I moved up from Florida and bought a house that was built in 1928. The furnace is from 1997 and is gas. It also has an april aire system for humidification. This is our first winter with it and we have just started running it.
There is a hose running from the april aire and from the gas vent piping that drains into our floor drain in the basement. I am confused because we don't have the april aire on currently but there is a steady dripping of water coming from the hose. Is there some sort of condensate from the gas vent piping?
I just don't know much about gas furnaces and/or the april aire system and was hoping someone here might.

RE: Condensate?
Water and carbon dioxide are byproducts of combustion and the flue gases are condensed in the furnace and drained.
RE: Condensate?
What do the vent pipes look like to/from the furnace? Plastic / sidewall, or metal through the roof?
I'd be impressed to see a condensing furnace in Florida... we still have to fight to get people to install them in Canada.
RE: Condensate?
Mechanics don't usually pipe up mistakes.
