I want to obtain opened sketch of a closed body.In other words  ,for example I know to obtain a cylinder from a rectangular, but what about to obtain that rectangular from that cylinder???

RE: anyone knows??help pls!

Say that you drawed a rectangle. You can obtain a cylinder by revolving it 360 degrees right?? But now say that you drawed a solid of a cylinder. How can you obtain its rectangle(i.e. open  shape of it)?
Or, say that you drawed a solid of a cone. What is the opened shape of that cone,so that if I revolve it will be cone again..

RE: anyone knows??help pls!

If you want to 'develop' the flat pattern for a cylinder or a cone, ... sorry, AutoCAD can't do that.

which programs can I use for that purpose??I also use CadKey but i think it can't do this too...

say you have a sold (cone, sphere, cylinder, etc) and you want the flat shape, you need to set a section-slice through the object. For example; if you want the maximum rectangle from the cylinder, draw the section through the centre-point of the circle. Then take a 2D image of the cylinder if that is required.  All the tools to do this are on the dashboard (Autocad 2008).  Hint. put the UCS origin on the centre and point the y-axis to the centre-point of the opposite circular face. Then draw the slice.  The tool can be gripped and dragged.
