Finding Story Shear in SAP

Finding Story Shear in SAP

Finding Story Shear in SAP

(OP)
I have been using SAP to analyze a building. I am using a modal response spectrum analysis to do seismic analysis. Given part of the ASCE 7 code, I need a way to get story shear out of my model. I have tried exporting information into excel, such as element joint forces for elements connecting to one floor. When I do this and look only at the joints at a single floor my numbers for base shear are relatively close to the "base shear" that SAP will tell me automatically, though still quite high (i.e. 650 vs. 605, or 285 vs. 157), and my story shears are far too high (added together equal 730 vs 671, or 430 vs. 211). Does anyone know a good way to get story shear out of SAP when using a modal response spectrum analysis?
