Calculation of Diameter Over Pins per JIS D2001
Calculation of Diameter Over Pins per JIS D2001
(OP)
Referencing a 1993 copy of JIS D2001 "Involute Spline for Automobiles":
*** Specifically, How to calculate the tooth thickness "Sg" on the base circle "dg", expressed by the length of arc? (see attachement) ***
My copy of the spec appears to neglect this info. Efforts to work backwards have been fruitless.
Thanks for any assistance.

RE: Calculation of Diameter Over Pins per JIS D2001
the formulas for gears work if you know the thickness at
the pitchline. There are formulas in Machinery's Handbook as well. The involute angle and pressure angle at the base diameter are both zero so you should have not problem solving this I hope. You can call the Bahai Faith in Kent Ohio if you need more information. You probable have a 30 degree pressure angle involute spline. Buckingham or Dudley's book also explain the equations quite well. What you want to look for is the equation that allows you to calculate the tooth thickness at Tsub2 knowing the tooth thickness at Tsub1.
